The Recipes of Thanksgiving


With Thanksgiving just around the corner I’d like to pass on one of the best Thanksgiving recipe sites on line, Zoinkies.com. On the Thanksgiving page you can find one of the most searched for items during the holiday season, lots of Recipes for cooking Thanksgiving vegetables.

When you have leftover Turkey, I’d like to tempt you with Donald Trumps Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger. A lot of people have said that this turkey burger at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump’s private club in Palm Beach, is the best they ever had. The Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger will be permanently available at the Trump Bar and Grille in Trump Tower in New York City, open to the public for lunch and dinner. It will also be served during lunch in Chicago at Sixteen, the Trump International Hotel restaurant.

Ingredients:
Serves 6

* 1/4 cup thinly sliced scallions
* 1/2 cup finely chopped celery
* 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
* 1/8 cup canola oil
* 4 pounds ground turkey breast
* 2 Tbsp. salt
* 2 Tbsp. black pepper
* 2 tsp. Tabasco® chipotle pepper sauce
* 1 lemon, juiced and grated zest
* 1/2 bunch parsley, finely chopped
* 1/4 cup Major Grey’s Chutney, pureed

Sauté the scallions, celery and apples in the canola oil until tender. Let cool.

Place the ground turkey in a large mixing bowl. Add sautéed items and the remaining ingredients. Shape into eight 8-ounce burgers. Refrigerate for 2 hours.

Season the turkey burgers with salt and pepper. Place on a preheated, lightly oiled grill. Grill each side for 7 minutes until meat is thoroughly cooked. Let sit for 5 minutes.

Serve with a side of Mar-a-Lago Pear Chutney and your favorite toasted bread, pita or hamburger roll.

Granny’s Quick and Easy Homemade Stew


Granny’s Quick and Easy Homemade Stew

Preparation and cooking time approximately 35 minutes

1 package stew meat
4 or 5 medium size white skinned potatoes
2 cans diced tomatoes w/ garlic and onions
1 can whole kernel corn
1 can sliced carrots
1 can french cut green beans
(You can add more or other vegetables if preferred.)
1/2 cup Barley
Italian or favorite Seasoning
Salt and Pepper

Sprinkle stew meat w/meat tenderizer
Place meat in pressure cooker w/enough water to cover meat
Cook for about 17 – 20 minutes. Leave water in with meat.
Wash potatoes and dice, leaving skin on
Cook potatoes until soft
Drain off half of the water from potatoes
Add potatoes and water into pressure cooker with meat
Add tomatoes,
Drain off liquid from vegetables, then add to with Barley to meat and potatoes.
Sprinkle in some Italian seasoning.
Cook on medium heat with lid off for about 15 minutes
Add salt and pepper to taste

I usually eat on this for several days. The barley and potatoes will often absorb the liquid. so when I reheat a bowl full I add a little water and perhaps a half teaspoon of butter. This makes a huge amount of soup and you can freeze some.
