Welcome to the Ann Tucker Blog!

Welcome to my personal blog. Thanks to my son for building this neat blog page. I decided I wanted to give my thoughts and words to the world and hope they have some meaning and memories to grandparents (and others) everywhere. I am a retired civil servant (35.5 years with the Department of the Air Force), mother of two and grandmother of five. My maiden name was Scaling and I was married to Tilford N. Tucker. I raised and put two great children through college so I have a lot of experiences to build on. After retirement I became a webmaster (working for my son) for some of our family websites: ShaggyDuck
Have a fun time and a great day, bookmark this site and come back often!!!!

It's already Wednesday...

Have you ever been curious what a certain house looked like inside if you see it is for sale?  Go to, http://www.trulia.com/  put in your town of choice and most homes will have photos of the inside.  A very interesting site to entertain you for a few minutes.

I got an email wanting me to sign to get a sale site here in our town from an Air Force Base person.  I see that there are lots of towns already listed and one might be right near you.  It is sort of like a Craigslist and I understand you can bargain with the seller.  You can be a buyer or a seller. Check this out if you have not been to this site before:   http://bookoo.com/.

The raccoon and duck are gone, now it will be the invasion of the neighbors cats.  There are two sets of 5 kittens in boxes on her porch.  They are starting to leave the box and wander down the steps.  The last three years those people let their cat have kittens and let them run all over the hood.  It smells of cat pee under my hedge and my renter says her flower bed smells the same.  Our best local plant store does not plant rue anymore and doesn't carry Coleus Canina but she said use cedar mulch and on the internet I found a place that said use moth balls.  I will let you know what happens.

A beautiful day and I have no plans so I could do what I wanted.  Then my car made this banging noise when I took my foot off the brake.  Off I went to the shop with my lunch in hand that I had picked up.  I lost track of what was wrong when he got to almost $800.   The springs in my suspension are worn out (my car is 10 years old) or something and they must order them from company (Toyota).  It's not so much the cost of the parts as the cost of the time to put them in (5 hours).  Then later I need to get new struts I think and that is another 5 or 6 hundred.  Well that shot my day..and my week and the month.  On top of that I am only supposed to drive it if I must.  Parts take 4-5 days to come in.  Oh yes, my Chinese carryout was cold by the time I got home - ate it anyway.

Shit--I HATE car problems. Mine is 11 years old and has cost well over 2,000 in the last year. Not many miles on it--just wearing out from being so old--kinda like me, HAH.

Moth balls will work--

Cats also don't like mint and lavender. If you use moth balls, fill a jar with moth balls and poke holes in the lid. Wedge jar in dirt where cats are going. The smell drives them away and they can't get to the moth balls which are toxic.

My car is a Camry and 7 years old. I hate to hear this because mine may be ready to do some of the same stuff as yours. My yard is full of mint and I still have cats so I don't think the mint will work. Have a good weekend.

I got some small plastic containers, punched holes in the lids, put in the moth balls and replaced lids. Can smell them and then laid them in places under the hedges and at my pond. We'll see.
