Welcome to the Ann Tucker Blog!

Welcome to my personal blog. Thanks to my son for building this neat blog page. I decided I wanted to give my thoughts and words to the world and hope they have some meaning and memories to grandparents (and others) everywhere. I am a retired civil servant (35.5 years with the Department of the Air Force), mother of two and grandmother of five. My maiden name was Scaling and I was married to Tilford N. Tucker. I raised and put two great children through college so I have a lot of experiences to build on. After retirement I became a webmaster (working for my son) for some of our family websites: ShaggyDuck
Have a fun time and a great day, bookmark this site and come back often!!!!

A Thoughtful Thursday

I take a truck load of pills a day for the old ticker and I can't believe my heart doctor insists I take those gosh-awful, belch making, terrible tasting, fish oil capsules. Do they really think they are good for helping your blood slip and slide through your veins? Someone said put them in the fridge and they wouldn't taste but I figure all my food would eventually taste like fish oil. I guess I need to remember I haven't seen many fish with heart problems so it must be a good thing?

How many of you scream and yell at the person in front of you, in a drive thru line, who is on the cell phone and not paying attention to the fact that they could be on their way to the interstate by now if they would get off the phone. Cell phone calls are worse than putting make up on in the car while waiting in line. OMG what did people do before they could spend every minute with a cell phone at their ear?

I keep wanting to call someone or write someone and say "if people don't buy health insurance now what makes you think they will buy it if you make it cheaper?" They are sitting at home or on some park bench and spending their money on booze, drugs and cigarettes and are not about to spend it on health care. Why doesn't the IRS go after all the government people working in DC who haven't paid taxes in years???? I understand they owe in the billions plus the congressmen and senators who owe their taxes. Get them first then you have a right to go after some poor schulp in the park under the newspaper....lol. (P S - I bet a lot of people who don't have health care have a cell phone!)

Tomorrow starts three days of the town wide Garage Sale.....Woo Hoo!! My daughter is taking Friday off and we are geared to go about 7:15 in the am. I will let you know if I find all those things I have been unable to live without. Bet you wish you were going with us?

You and your daughter should put together a little "scavenger hunt" list and see how many of those wanted items you actually find.

Let me know if you find any cute dresser drawer knobs and pulls.

If I lived near you, I would be right there with you going to the sales. I bet you have a ball and find lots of good bargains. You are right about the cell phones. They drive me crazy sitting there on the phone after the light has turned green. How are they going to fine the people who don't buy the insurance or make them pay the fine? If they have no money how are they going to pay fines? You are right about people with no insurance having cell phones. I worked with welfare programs for years and the clients all had cell phones, money for ciggs. and gas money but no money for food or to spend on their kids.

in your list of things uninsured people waste their money on, you should add soda, tattoos and cell phones with ridiculous ring tones.

And if your town was just a bit closer to me, I might just head on up there for your townwide sale - sounds like fun!

Hope you find lots of bargains. you can get fish oil caps that don't leave an after taste. I can't remember the brands, but they are out there. Don't get me started on the cell phone issue!

I love my fish oil gel caps--for some reason they don't make me belch fishy tasting stuff, which is a good thing because...I hate fish. I don't know if they help or not, but I am taking them and my Vitamin D daily and praying for the best :-)
