More Thrifty Treasures
More Today's Thrifty TreasuresThis weekend was just beautiful -no wind, temps just right and there weren't many sales but the ones we went to had lots of things to look at. A couple had a whole yard full of absolutely great items but I just can't get everything I like. I did get the coke sign for my son who collects and it is neat, has the same on both sides and is like a big cookie. Only $5 Now take a look at this little lady - is she neat or what? For $1 I had to have her. She is, I think made of plaster as she is really heavy. I got this cute tin flat bucket for next 4th. I forgot to take the price tag off but it was also $1.

A Fun Site
My daughter will probably wring my neck for showing you this silly magazine cover I put her picture on but....... I was looking around today to try and find a site that made a digital jpg look like a polaroid. I found some but none like the site I had used some years back but instead I found a really cute site that I think you might like. It is one of those fun sites where you can do lot of things with pictures and best of all it's FREE. Check out WriteOnIt.....
Did They Really Ask That?
These questions were actually asked of various cruise ship pursers.
"Do you make your own electricity on board?" "Why can't I get cable stations?" "Are you the Captain?" "Do you actually live on this ship?"
"Do these stairs go up or down?" "Does the crew sleep on board?" "Could you call the captain to stop the waves? I am getting seasick." "I just saw the Captain in the dining room. Who is steering the ship?" "Is the water in the toilets salty or fresh?" "What time does the midnight buffet start?" "What do you do with the ice sculptures after they melt?" "Can you get these chips on land?" -- Referring to casino chips. "Why is it so windy outside?" -- On a cruise liner traveling 30 miles per hour at the time. "I see them!" -- The inevitable response from a member of the crowd whenever a casino dealer on a cruise liner played a favorite joke -- pointing out "penguins" on a "little piece of ice" during a cruise through Bermuda. "So what is the elevation here?" -- On an Alaskan cruise. "Why can't I find a USPC post box in town?" -- In Ocho Rios, Jamaica. "I want to change cabins! I paid good money for this cruise, and all I can see is a rusted crane in the harbor!" -- Asked before leaving port.
What's The Theme?
My daughter and I laugh each weekend as we garage sale about the weekend theme. What is that? Well it seems there is always a "theme" as we call it, meaning the same item over and over. One weekend, at every other sale, you might see an entertainment center or a dining room set or it might be a Barbie car or lawn mowers. We thought we were the only ones who noticed this unusual phenomenon. This weekend I was looking at a bunch of weekend finds from other sights when I saw this statement:
"Every week seems to have a theme, something you run into at every sale that week. This week's theme is "Hooks on Wood", from Bonnie at Cottage Hideaway
Then I saw this fact that I thought was extremely interesting: "I heard $3 billion is spent at garage sales in the US each year. That's a lot of quarters!" Random Anny.com
I guess when we think we might be the only ones with a thought, it only takes a little "surfing" to find we are wrong!!!
One and Only Purchase
This was my $3 purchase for the weekend. The little black birds (there is one more on the top) are on thin, curly wire and move in the windMore Today's Thrifty Treasures
Maxine for President
Sometimes I think Maxine should run for president. She was right on with this one!
Everyone concentrates on the problems we're having in this country lately: illegal immigration, hurricane recovery, alligators attacking people in Florida ...
Not me. I concentrate on solutions for the problems. It's a win-win situation. + Dig a moat the length of the Mexican border. + Send the dirt to New Orleans to raise the level of the levies. + Put the Florida alligators in the moat along the Mexican border.
Any other problems you would like for me to solve today ? Yes ? Think about this one: 1. Cows 2. The Constitution 3. The Ten Commandments
C O W S Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow. T H E C O N S T I T U T I O N They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq .... Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore. T H E 1 0 C O M M A N D M E N T S The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this: You cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal,' 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery,' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians...It creates a hostile work environment. PART OF THE PROBLEM Also, Think about this: If you don't want to forward this for fear of offending someone-- YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!
