Welcome to the Ann Tucker Blog!

Welcome to my personal blog. Thanks to my son for building this neat blog page. I decided I wanted to give my thoughts and words to the world and hope they have some meaning and memories to grandparents (and others) everywhere. I am a retired civil servant (35.5 years with the Department of the Air Force), mother of two and grandmother of five. My maiden name was Scaling and I was married to Tilford N. Tucker. I raised and put two great children through college so I have a lot of experiences to build on. After retirement I became a webmaster (working for my son) for some of our family websites: ShaggyDuck
Have a fun time and a great day, bookmark this site and come back often!!!!

Crystal Aspirin

Something that we can do to help ourselves. Nice to know.
Bayer is making crystal aspirin to dissolve instantly on the tongue. They work much faster than the tablets. Why keep aspirin by your bedside?

There are other symptoms of an heart attack besides the pain on the left arm.
One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea and lots of sweating, however these symptoms may also occur less frequently.

Note: There may be NO pain in the chest during a heart attack. The majority of people (about 60%) who had a heart attack during their sleep, did not wake up. However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep.

If that happens, immediately dissolve two aspirins in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water.

Afterwards:

- phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by
- say "heart attack!"
- say that you have taken 2 aspirins.
- take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and...
~do NOT lie down~
A Cardiologist has stated that, if each person, after reading this, tells 10 people, probably one life can be saved!

Feel free to copy and forward this message; it may save lives!

Before calling anyone else, I think calling 911 would be best.

According to the FDA, "If consumers suspect they are having a heart attack, their most important action must be to seek emergency medical care immediately..."
http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/ResourcesForYou/Consumers/QuestionsAnswers/ucm071879.htm

As for the Quick Release Crystals, if you go to Bayer's own website on this (www.wonderdrug.com), their pitch for their it, is for rapid pain relief--it doesn't mention using it for heart attacks or strokes, as they do on some of their other products:
http://www.wonderdrug.com/products/es/es_crystals.htm

One reason for this is probably because it contains 850mg of it, which puts you at a higher risk for side effects, some of which can be serious, such as GI bleed.

Even according to Bayer's website, doses as low as half of one of their regular-strength (325mg) aspirin are effective during a suspected heart attack:
http://www.wonderdrug.com/asp_hd.htm

I haven't been able to find any evidence that taking anything above 325mg increases effectiveness.

I would also assume that for fastest effect, you would not want to get their one that is "Safety Coated". Their regular actually dissolve pretty quickly, and some suggest dissolving it in water first and then drinking.

Before using this new high-dose crystal form, I would consult with your doctor or other medical professional first to evaluate your risk and determine whether and what the right amount for you is and the best way to take it.

WHERE DID YOU GET THIS!!! It's NOT accurate!!!
Unless you, yourself are a Cardiologist or an EMT, DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!
Call 911. Even if it's 2 AM. That's what they are there for. They are trained.
It's exactly this kind of advice that increases the 'un-atteneded' death rate, especially in rural areas.

called Bayer Health Care regarding the product Bayer Crystal Aspirin after a pharmacist advised NOT to take it for an onset of a heart attack. This product contains caffeine & 850 mg of aspirin. Because of these features Bayer recommends that you DO NOT use this product for the onset of a heart attack. The FDA recommends that as little as two 81 mg aspirin is sufficient.
