Welcome to the Ann Tucker Blog!

Welcome to my personal blog. Thanks to my son for building this neat blog page. I decided I wanted to give my thoughts and words to the world and hope they have some meaning and memories to grandparents (and others) everywhere. I am a retired civil servant (35.5 years with the Department of the Air Force), mother of two and grandmother of five. My maiden name was Scaling and I was married to Tilford N. Tucker. I raised and put two great children through college so I have a lot of experiences to build on. After retirement I became a webmaster (working for my son) for some of our family websites: ShaggyDuck
Have a fun time and a great day, bookmark this site and come back often!!!!

What's The Theme?

My daughter and I laugh each weekend as we garage sale about the weekend theme. What is that? Well it seems there is always a "theme" as we call it, meaning the same item over and over. One weekend, at every other sale, you might see an entertainment center or a dining room set or it might be a Barbie car or lawn mowers. We thought we were the only ones who noticed this unusual phenomenon. This weekend I was looking at a bunch of weekend finds from other sights when I saw this statement:

"Every week seems to have a theme, something you run into at every sale that week. This week's theme is "Hooks on Wood", from Bonnie at Cottage Hideaway

Then I saw this fact that I thought was extremely interesting: "I heard $3 billion is spent at garage sales in the US each year. That's a lot of quarters!" Random Anny.com

I guess when we think we might be the only ones with a thought, it only takes a little "surfing" to find we are wrong!!!

Most of the sales around here have a lot of clothes and very little else. That is why I think you find so many great items in your area. I love that sign below with the birds. I would have bought that for my yard, too. Sometimes, I just keep on driving when I see a whole yard full of mostly clothes.

A lot of clothes at sales around here also. When out and about a couple of weeks ago, there seemed to be a lot of furniture out.
