Welcome to the Ann Tucker Blog!

Welcome to my personal blog. Thanks to my son for building this neat blog page. I decided I wanted to give my thoughts and words to the world and hope they have some meaning and memories to grandparents (and others) everywhere. I am a retired civil servant (35.5 years with the Department of the Air Force), mother of two and grandmother of five. My maiden name was Scaling and I was married to Tilford N. Tucker. I raised and put two great children through college so I have a lot of experiences to build on. After retirement I became a webmaster (working for my son) for some of our family websites: ShaggyDuck
Have a fun time and a great day, bookmark this site and come back often!!!!

Seventeenth Day of the Seventh Month -Noahs Ark

Genesis 8:4, which states, “and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat,” in The New International Version of the Bible. This summer archaeologist Randall Price, 57, plans to continue on a journey to prove just that as he joins an expedition to Mount Ararat. His team believes that it is there, in Eastern Turkey, where Noah’s Ark remains preserved underneath layers of rubble and ice.

This is what the Bible says about the Ark that God commanded Noah to build: “Build a large boat from cypress wood and waterproof it with tar, inside and out. Then construct decks and stalls throughout its interior. Make the boat 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high. Leave an 18-inch opening below the roof all the way around the boat. Put the door on the side, and build three decks inside the boat—lower, middle, and upper. The cubic volume would have been 1,518,000 cubic feet [462,686.4 cubic meters] -- equal to the capacity of 569 modern railroad cars.

ChristianAnswers.net explains that as many as 50,000 animals (including creatures that may now be extinct) could have fit on board the ark. These would not have needed to be the largest or even adult specimens. They point out that there are really only a few very large animals, such as the dinosaur or the elephant, and these could be represented by young ones. "Assuming the average animal to be about the size of a sheep and using a railroad car for comparison, we note that the average double-deck stock car can accommodate 240 sheep. Thus, three trains hauling 69 cars each would have ample space to carry the 50,000 animals, filling only 37percent of the ark. This would leave an additional 361 cars or enough to make 5 trains of 72 cars each to carry all of the food and baggage plus Noah's family of eight people."

I've always been fascinated with noah's ark. That must have been something, to have lived through that.

There is story in Genesis about Noah when “God” warned him about Big Flood asked him to build an Ark and take 2 of each Species to re-populate the Earth. An exactly similar story appears in Ancient Indian Scriptures when “God” asked King Manu the same. All available information suggests that a Glacier broke and blocked the flow of a river and a huge lake formed behind that Glacier. It was known to “Educated” people at the time that Glacier would melt and cause a huge flood.
Sometime in the past, around the same time a River named Saraswati that kept present day Indian Desert Thar green dried up. The story of Big Flood could be in India or where the Genesis said happened. It could not flood Mount Ararat upstream where some researchers found “Noah’s Ark”.

According to Science Earth is about 5 billion years old, proven by scientific methods. Writers of Vedic scriptures estimate Brahma's day (which we presume the age of Earth) 4.5 billion years which is close to scientific estimate. I have read Old Testament and new Bible, and I see those writers estimated Earths beginning about 6 billion years ago, which is right in the ball park of Vedic and scientific estimate. But the trouble is whoever interpreted and translated the Bible had no knowledge of zero and wrongly put earths age as 6000 years. On the other hand the writers of Vedic scriptures had this knowledge and had no trouble writing and interpreting the big numbers like billions and trillions. They also put Brahma's life span (presumably life of the universe) as 157 trillion years!!! The followers of Bible should not bury their heads in sand and should ask question whenever in doubt and this way truth is revealed and respect for religions increases. One Presidential candidate said right on television interview that he believed earth was only 6000 years old!!!!
