Welcome to the Ann Tucker Blog!

Welcome to my personal blog. Thanks to my son for building this neat blog page. I decided I wanted to give my thoughts and words to the world and hope they have some meaning and memories to grandparents (and others) everywhere. I am a retired civil servant (35.5 years with the Department of the Air Force), mother of two and grandmother of five. My maiden name was Scaling and I was married to Tilford N. Tucker. I raised and put two great children through college so I have a lot of experiences to build on. After retirement I became a webmaster (working for my son) for some of our family websites: ShaggyDuck
Have a fun time and a great day, bookmark this site and come back often!!!!

Little known and marginally useful information

A goldfish has a memory span of three months .
(Some days that's more than my memory span is)

An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.
(I know some people like that also . Actually I know A LOT of people like this! I even worked for several people like this!)

The microwave was invented after a researcher walked by a radar tube and a chocolate bar melted in his pocket.
(Good thing that was all that melted)

There are two words in the English language that have all five vowels in order: 'abstemious' and 'facetious.'
(Yes, admit it, you are going to say, a e i o u and check them out)

Almonds are a member of the peach family.
(Now this is something I have always wanted to know)

Leonardo Da Vinci invented the scissors.
(now I know who to blame next time my grandson cuts his own hair!)

Peanuts are one of the ingredients of dynamite!
(So, how exactly are peanuts involved in dynamite you ask? Well....Dynamite is made from Nitroglycerine, Nitroglycerine, also known as trinitroglycerin, and glyceryl trinitrate, is an oily, explosive liquid made by nitrating glycerol. So nitroglycerine is made from glycerol. Glycerol or glycerine, is a viscous liquid used in soap, cream, and food. Glycerol is made of……….Peanut oil! Peanut oil of course being made of peanuts!
So there you have it! The principle ingredient of dynamite is peanuts!)

Now don't you really feel somewhat smarter?

Well, that explains why Husband emits dynamite-like sounds from his cave-region after eating peanuts.

Haha. So how do they know that about the goldfish (memory span). I have my doubts about that one...

Joe: Glad you asked me to check. It is 3 months, not 3 seconds and they can tell time.....so saith the scientist:
