Welcome to the Ann Tucker Blog!

Welcome to my personal blog. Thanks to my son for building this neat blog page. I decided I wanted to give my thoughts and words to the world and hope they have some meaning and memories to grandparents (and others) everywhere. I am a retired civil servant (35.5 years with the Department of the Air Force), mother of two and grandmother of five. My maiden name was Scaling and I was married to Tilford N. Tucker. I raised and put two great children through college so I have a lot of experiences to build on. After retirement I became a webmaster (working for my son) for some of our family websites: ShaggyDuck
Have a fun time and a great day, bookmark this site and come back often!!!!

As I Shed a Tear or Two

It's really sad that they will stop making a Pontiac. We got a brand new 1960 Pontiac Ventura in '60. It was a beautiful blue (International Klein Blue - in the swatch ) with teeny little silver specs in it. That was the smoothest riding car in the world. It was huge inside and it was only a two door. It had a gigantic trunk. We absolutely loved that car and it was terrible when we had to go to Turkey for three years and couldn't take it with us. There were some truly neat cars in the 50s and 60s. I loved the shapes and colors of those cars. Those were the years of the beautiful shaped cars. And they weren't made of plastic back then either!!!! This will blow your mind - we paid only 16 cents per gallon of gas back then.

My first car was a 64 dodge dart. It was lovely. It came with a hole in the passenger side floor for easy disposal of trash. I also lost my backpack... Anyway it was push button and that alone made it the coolest car on earth.

We had a Pontiac LeMans station wagon in the 70s. It was really big with a 3rd row and an 8 cylinder engine. I think they were pretty popular.

Betty I loved the story of your trash disposal hole. Gave me a good laugh to start the day.

Jim I had a Ford Country Wagon for several years and loved it. I could haul anything in that car. You can imagine what all we brought home from garage sales.
