Welcome to the Ann Tucker Blog!

Welcome to my personal blog. Thanks to my son for building this neat blog page. I decided I wanted to give my thoughts and words to the world and hope they have some meaning and memories to grandparents (and others) everywhere. I am a retired civil servant (35.5 years with the Department of the Air Force), mother of two and grandmother of five. My maiden name was Scaling and I was married to Tilford N. Tucker. I raised and put two great children through college so I have a lot of experiences to build on. After retirement I became a webmaster (working for my son) for some of our family websites: ShaggyDuck
Have a fun time and a great day, bookmark this site and come back often!!!!

Do You Squidoo?

Hey everyone, do you have a Lens on Squidoo? If you don't or don't even know what that is, you are missing out. This is the world's easiest way to make a page online.
Share your interests, get found, and even earn money. (For you or for charity). For free, of course. You can make a lens in a matter of minutes. You can advertise your blog on a lens or give out information.

Squidoo has listed some subjects to get you started: "A lens about you. When someone Googles you, what do they find? Make a HeroRoll lens, or an Acknowledgments lens, all about the people who have inspired you. A lens about the stuff you sell. A lens about the movie you just saw. Or the book you just read. Or how about a list of the 20 best golf books ever. Or the worst monster movies of all time. A Flickr overview page. Go ahead, make that cat lens. Or an ode to your dog. The pet industry is gigantic. Did you figure out how to make the BEST coffee ever? Make a lens for charity. Stay at home moms, you guys are the some of the most creative people out there. Geeks & Gamers, alert! Make a lens for your blog. Introduce your work to new readers. Start a travelogue lens. Did you just get back from a trip to Florence? Post a rant. Better yet, post a rave. What's the best customer service you experienced lately? Who are you voting for, and why? What have you researched lately? Who are you following on Twitter? Why? Teachers, lenses are a godsend for you. Make a hometown lens. Where do you live? You probably know all the secret hangouts and hot spots. Talk about them.

Make a Top List lens, people love Top Lists. Make a 'Top 10 Geeky Gadgets', 'Top 10 Ways to Wash your Dog', 'Top 10 Locations for a Sunny Holiday', things like that! Make a crafty How-To lens. Do a step by step, picture by picture lens about how to crochet rag rugs, or how to make masks. Love cookies? Crazy about spaghetti? Make a lens about your favorite food. Where you can really find true happiness in a crazy world we live in. Make a lens about where you live or where you grew up. Is there a nearby annual bluegrass festival, or a matress race, or sandcastle competition, or Irish Fest? Make a Lens About Your Favorite Cookie Recipes. Make a Lens to Help People.

Quick, fast cleaning tips. Up to the minute cleaning tips and helpful hints for a variety of cleaning routines! Lenses about gardening tips, saving money on the garden, getting nice healthy plants. People are always doing searches for tips and walk throughs to get past some tough obstacle in a new video game."

Squidoo has a page of instructions on how to "Create your own page in 60 seconds."

Two of the many comments on creating a lens are:

Creating a page of your own requires little effort; and could offer a big payoff! -Washington Post

Every author, speaker, expert, blogger, entrepreneur and business person would be crazy NOT to do this! -Scott Ginsberg

Even one of my teenage granddaughters made a lens in a couple of hours on fashion and has listed clothing items for sale from available sources and she is making some spending money. I have 23 different lens. Take a look at one of mine and you will see how easy they are to do then go make yourself a lens.

I haven't really heard much on Squidoo. I did click over to the one you created on garage sales - very cool. I will have to research this further. Thanks for the tip!
