Welcome to the Ann Tucker Blog!

Welcome to my personal blog. Thanks to my son for building this neat blog page. I decided I wanted to give my thoughts and words to the world and hope they have some meaning and memories to grandparents (and others) everywhere. I am a retired civil servant (35.5 years with the Department of the Air Force), mother of two and grandmother of five. My maiden name was Scaling and I was married to Tilford N. Tucker. I raised and put two great children through college so I have a lot of experiences to build on. After retirement I became a webmaster (working for my son) for some of our family websites: ShaggyDuck
Have a fun time and a great day, bookmark this site and come back often!!!!

Is It Over Yet?

Well, as the saying asks, "Is it over yet?" Almost. The end of the year is really rather depressing. Time to think about paying for Christmas, digging out all the paperwork for paying taxes, putting up all the decorations and getting the house back to normal. The kids have been spoiled rotten with high tech electronic games, ipods, itouch's, wii's, nintendo DS's and digital cameras. I certainly hope the tech world can keep ahead of my grandkids, or they might have to get a board game for Christmas sometime. A surprise for me was two teenagers who wanted the "Twilight" series novels this year. Gads, reading a book, what a treat for a change. I'm not too sure vampires are what I'd choose for them to read about but at least they are reading. I got a memory foam pillow and if you don't have one, get one! They are wonderful. We didn't do presents for the adults this year, just the kids so it was less expensive. We had great food, fun being with family and watching the kids. We sure could have used some snow but in Oklahoma it is rare to get snow at Christmas time. When the rest of the states are in nice weather, that is when we get 10 inches of snow and ice!

Glad you had a good Christmas and hope that you are feeling all better by now. I, too, like to see children read and always made it a point to give my children books and to read to them when they were small. Happy New Year to you.
