Their salaries are how much????

Have salaries gotten out of hand? I don't think that making a lot of money is bad, it is the salaries that some companies give their ceo's or sports teams give their players, that I feel has gotten way out of hand. This past week we watched as three ceo's of major car companies were grilled by Washington when they came to ask for money to help their companies out of debt. What everyone got upset about was the fact that they each came in their company's private jet. What they forgot to tell us was how much each man's salary is. Check this out: Richard Wagoner Jr, CEO, GM, 8.5 mil., Robert Nardelli, Chrysler, 6.5 mil. and Alan Mulally, Ford, 19.6 mil. They sit there and talk about how thousands will lose their jobs and how many peoples lives are affected by their company if it goes under. How can anyone talk about that when they are making that kind of money themselves? How can a board authorize that kind of money for one man? Is there anyone who can honestly say that they do 19 million dollars worth of work a year? I think it is really sad. Why couldn't a CEO make perhaps 100,000 more than the highest paid employee of the company and be able to live on that amount? Look at what the biggest paychecks were in 2005:
-Richard D Fairbank has been CEO of Capital One Financial (COF) for 12 years.
$249.42 mil (#1)
-Terry S Semel has been CEO of Yahoo (YHOO) for 5 years.
$230.555 mil (#2)
-Henry R Silverman has been CEO of Cendant (CD) for 16 years.
$139.96 mil (#3)
-Bruce Karatz has been CEO of KB Home (KBH) for 20 years.
$135.53 mil (#4)

-Lawrence J Ellison has been CEO of Oracle (ORCL) for 29 years.
$75.33 mil (#7)
-John W Thompson has been CEO of Symantec (SYMC) for 7 years

The US has children who go to school without a breakfast, people who have no home due to natural disasters or loss of a job, families who don't have enough money to pay for health insurance, and parents who have to have two and three jobs just to pay for their kids college. Maybe we need to say some of these salaries have just gone a bit too far. What do you think?
